Your Brain - Don't leave home without it!
March 16-22 was International Brain Awareness Week - an opportunity to foster enthusiasm and support for brain science. At DDCS we are proud to be one of the first Australian schools to offer the Arrowsmith program which is based on the application of neuroplasticity and the idea that weaker areas of the brain can be developed and 'grown'.
Our students work hard at daily exercises to strengthen their brains. This week gave them the opportunity to participate in a variety of other activities to remind them of how amazing their brains are. They learned what the brain does; the different parts of the brain; and how the brain works. Play dough, word searches and making a door hanger helped reinforce the learning. So did fun facts. Did you know the average adult human brain weighs nearly 1.5kg and is about 15cm long? Amazing!
