Soccer Success at Gala Day

Nearly 50 students and 5 teachers enjoyed a lovely day in the winter sun at the Mitchelton Football Club Ovals last Tuesday for the ASSA Soccer Gala Day. THE DDCS teams asserted themselves really well with everyone enjoying some success. Due to the flu season, the senior boys were missing four regular players but they soldiered on giving it their best shot and managed a draw. Senior girls enjoyed a win and a draw and Junior Boys also had a draw. The local champs were however the Junior Girls. With two draws and two wins from the first rounds they made it to the finals against BAC. They kept the opposition honest and by full-time the score was still 0-0. In overtime the game flow was headed towards our goal line when Katelyn (Year 8) went down with a calf injury. The girls fought on bravely but conceded a last minute single goal to BAC. They were a plucky, talented bunch of Years 7-9 girls who really played as a team and we congratulate them. Special thanks to Mr Hansen who was the main coordinator of the day - a huge job trying to pull the draw together and coordinate all the fine details with all the schools and also to Mr Rinsma who coordinated the DDCS paperwork.
