DDCS & USQ Collaborate to provide Drones Technology Workshop

Last Thursday the University of Southern Queensland and Darling Downs Christian School teamed up to deliver a hands-on Drones for STEM learning experience to all students from year 6 to 12.

In support of the Federal Government’s Educational Goals and the Australian Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s (ACARA) General Capabilities, the DDCS has joined forces with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education team at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), to deliver a personalised program: Drones for STEM. The workshop provided students with exposure, confidence and skills in this multidisciplinary, growing and significant technology.

Students at first may have been a little apprehensive but soon found the interactive workshop enjoyable. “It was a very educational experience” according to Josh Calvert (School Captain). It was intended that the workshop provide the opportunity and access for many students, who would not usually be able to experience drone technology firsthand. In doing so, DDCS provides an occasion where students may be encouraged to study further in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths disciplines
