Year 10 student, Daniel Sippel, participated at the Queensland School Sport 13-19 years Track and Field State Championships, held Saturday 19 - Tuesday 22 October. This was held at Barlow Park in Cairns. Daniel competed on the Monday, in the Triple Jump, after qualifying for the Darling Downs team by winning his event at the regional trials in August. Daniel jumped 12.26m and placed 11th out of the top 20 competitors for 15 years boys in Queensland. He performed well for his first time at such a high-level competition. This participation has given Daniel the determination to improve his performance and compete again next year. He found the whole experience inspiring and particularly enjoyed watching the 16 years boys 100m final which ended in a dead heat, despite electronic timing and photo finish technology.
